VA MANILA CLOSURES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CHINESE NEW YEAR: On Friday, February 16, 2018, the U.S. Embassy along with the VA Manila Regional Office and Outpatient Clinic will operate during normal business hours from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.  Veterans without scheduled appointments can walk-in from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

PRESIDENTS DAY: On Monday, February 19, 2018,  the U.S. Embassy along with the VA Manila Regional Office and Outpatient Clinic will be closed  in honor of President’s Day.

MAUNDY THURSDAY: On Thursday, March 29, 2018, the U.S. Embassy along with the VA Manila Regional Office and Outpatient Clinic will be closed in honor of Maundy Thursday.
GOOD FRIDAY: On Friday, March 30, 2018, the U.S. Embassy along with the VA Regional Office and Outpatient Clinic will be closed in honor of Good Friday.

NEW KIOSKS: The clinic now has Kiosks in the lobby for Veterans to check-in for appointments, update address, telephone number, email, request medical records, and view future appointments.  It’s fast and convenient.  All you need is your VA ID card.  If you do not have one, you can access the Kiosk with your name and social security number.

DON’T BE A NO SHOW:  When you fail to show up or cancel an appointment, you jeopardize your health care and take an appointment slot that could be used by a fellow Veteran.  That makes them wait even longer for their health care. If you are going to be late, unable to make your scheduled appointment(s),  want to cancel and/or reschedule, please call the VA at (02) 550-3888.  You may also send a secure message to your primary care team.
MEDICATIONS:   VA Manila  Physicians are not permitted to rewrite a Non-VA Physician’s prescription nor can VA Manila Pharmacy fill a prescription prescribed by a Non-VA Physician. This is strictly prohibited as it will jeopardize a physician’s medical license.   All medications prescribed by a Non-VA Physician must be purchased in the community and, if prescribed for a service connected condition, can be reimbursed via the Foreign Medical Program.

NEW LABORATORY PROCEDURES:  The Laboratory has implemented new procedures to better serve patients with early morning appointments and to better manage long lines queuing in the morning.
  1. The clinic has discontinued performing laboratory tests based on first come, first serve.
  2. The clinic will continue to open at 7:00 am for patients who have laboratory tests;  however, laboratory staff will FIRST serve patients with early morning scheduled appointments.
  3. Beginning 7:00 am, laboratory staff will call Veterans with appointments at 8:00 am , 8:30 am, 9:00  and so forth. Veterans with succeeding appointments will replace Veterans who did not report on time.

Fasting Instructions: Unless otherwise instructed, fasting patients should not eat or drink anything 12 hours prior to their appointment.  Patient can take their medications with a small sip of water.
FOREIGN MEDICAL PROGRAM:  Veterans are advised to enroll in both the VA Manila Outpatient Clinic and the Foreign Medical Program (FMP).  The clinic continues to provide primary,  specialty and ancillary services such as laboratory, nursing, pharmacy, prosthetics, radiology, and social work.  All services that are not available in the clinic are managed by the Foreign Medical Program.
The Foreign Medical Program is a VA Program, however, their system of records does not interface with VA Manila.  Veterans’ questions about the FMP, e.g., registration status or copy of Benefits Authorization letter are best answered by contacting FMP customer service center Monday through Friday between the hours of 5:05 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. PST at 1-303-331-7590 or visit the website for more information at: https://www.va.gov/purchasedcare/programs/veterans/fmp/index.asp

If you receive additional rated service connected conditions, please contact FMP directly to reissue you a new benefits letter.
Hospitals listed below have agreed to bill FMP as long as the Veteran provides the facility a copy of their FMP Benefits authorization letter that lists the Veteran’s service connected conditions.  If you do not have a FMP Benefits Authorization letter you will need to pay upon discharge and seek reimbursement from the FMP.
  1. Avitus Dialysis
  2. Divine Grace - Cavite
  3. Manila Doctors – United Nations Avenue
  4. Metro Psychiatry Facility – Pasig
  5. Sacred Heart - Angeles
  6. The Medical City – Clark
  7. The Medical City – Iloilo
  8. The Medical City - Ortigas
  9. Lorma Medical City – La Union
  10. Baypointe Hospital – Olongapo

Although a facility participates in FMP, it does not automatically guarantee all of the facilities physicians agreed to bill their professional fees to FMP.  Be sure to ask the physician prior to receiving services if they will bill FMP or if you are required to pay upon services rendered.
To assist Veterans with filing FMP reimbursement claims,  a designated fax machine is available in the lobby for Veterans to fax their reimbursement claims. In addition, a telephone is available in the lobby so Veterans can call FMP customer service.

Please note  St. Luke’s Quezon City no longer participates.  The list above will be updated as facilities are added and/or deleted. The list of participating hospitals is subject to change without notice and the VA is not responsible if the facility above chooses not to participate.
